Poetry and Spoken Word with author Jenny Mitchell

Whether you’re a budding poet, just starting your writing journey, or you’ve been writing for several years and are now looking to perform your work or get it published, then this is an amazing opportunity not to be missed.

Spend five days crafting your skills as a spoken word performer and poet with award-winning writer Jenny Mitchell.

At the end of the week, you’ll get the chance to perform on stage at the British Museum. A selection of poems from the week will also be published as a calendar for 2025.

Jenny Mitchell is the winner of countless poetry competitions and a published author. Her best-selling debut collection, Her Lost Language, was named as one of 44 Poetry Books for 2019 and her second collection was described by the Irish Independent as a ‘literary find’.

Jenny is on the syllabus at Manchester Metropolitan University, has performed her work across Europe, as well as in the Houses of Parliament, and is a regular contributor to Culture Matters website.

She is to be featured on the cover of writer’s magazine 'Write On!', while her poem The Day Mr Zephaniah Died was chosen by the Poetry Society to mark the passing of writer Benjamin Zephaniah. Jenny is currently Poet in the Community at the British Library, working with the Engagement Team.
